JUNE 2nd 2012: La Grange Pet Parade
Join the Federation on its float entry in to this years parade or have your own tribe enter a float. This Years Theme is "66 Years of Fun Times" Our slot number is 91and our line-up area is number #7, on Maple EAST of La Grange Road. For a map of the lineup locations and parade route Click Here

The parade starts at 9:30a, but we won't move for at least an hour.

Honor Points - Its Not To Late ! ! !

How How,

The year is wrapping up, and its time to give your tribe the credit it has earned for all the activities you've done with your sons and daughters. If you went to all the Longhouses from September through June, you'd have earned 500 point (50 each). If your tribe had over 50% participation at the three camp outs, that's another 600 points (200 each). Just those two items would bring you 1100 of the required 1600 points to be designated an Honor Tribe. Add to that participation in Secret Santa, Pinewood Derby, Pow Wows, Wolves game, Western Springs Christmas play, Bike Hike, NCAA Fellowship Fund Raiser, and the Giving Tree. You even get 100 points for each new member of your tribe, and for every dad who volunteers to serve as a Nation Chief. Still to come, you can earn points for participation in the Pet Parade and the Golf Outing. You get 100 points if more than 50% of your tribe participated, and 50 points if less than 50%. And these are just the Federation sponsored events.

Guides and Princess tribes have sponsored Christmas trees at the Brookfield Zoo, participated in NEAT Day and the Salt Creek Clean Up, passed out water at local 5K races, raised money and awareness for our troops overseas, local food banks, homeless shelters, caroled at senior centers, gone to local Daddy-Daughter Dances, played Laser Tag, gone bowling, and so much more. All these tribal activities earn honor points. For tribal events, you get 100 points if more than 50% of your tribe participates, 0 points for less than 50%.

It is amazing to think that our Federation tribes do so much good within our community - while having so much fun.

And getting credit is so simple - send me an email and tell me what you have done. That's it. To help in that regard, I attached the Federation's cut sheet for Honor Points from the Federation website, http://www.yigp.org/, and a great Excel form developed by the Seneca Tribe. On this form, just click on the criteria column and use the pull down tab to indicate what percentage of your tribe participated. For tribal events not listed, type them in under column C, Activity, and complete the rest. The form calculates your points automatically. Here are the Links

And if these aids don't work for you, just free text me an email with participation percentage included - again, only <50% or >50%.

I've attached the Honor Tribe reports for both Guides and Princesses that are posted on the Federation website so that you can see where your tribe stands. These will be updated twice more this year - once for the June Longhouse and finally after 1 July, so that you can get credit for Pet Parade and Golf Outing attendance, as well as any special end of year tribal events.

2012 NCAA MENS FELLOWSHIP NIGHT

A NEAT idea for a civic project on April 14th

If you're looking for a really NEAT idea for a civic project - check this out....

The Western Springs NEAT Cleanup Day 2012 will be held April 14 . All interested group leaders: Please contact me (mscyee@hotmail.com) because your group leaders change frequently.

Join us at N.E.A.T. celebrates 27 years of community service. The Neighborhood Environmental Appearance Team (NEAT) is an organization that was created in 1986 as a subcommittee of the Village’s Architectural and Appearance Commission in preparation of the Village’s Centennial celebration. NEAT organized the first workday April 19, 1986 and continues to plan a one-day event in which community groups and families join together to clean litter and debris that accumulates in and around public areas of the Village.

NEAT Cleanup Day 2012 will be held on Saturday, April 14 with a rain date of Sunday,April 15.

All residents and youth groups (it’s a great service project!) are invited to help rid the Village of winter debris and litter. Groups should preregister so appropriate work sites can be assigned. Check-in and registration will take place April 14 at the Recreation Center, 1500 Walker between 8:00 a.m. and noon. Please bring rakes, brooms, and gloves to your group’s assigned site for the cleanup. For further information, please contact Carol Yee at 246-6704 or mscyee@hotmail.com

Come and try your car on the Official YIGP P/W track and get tips and help in the pits from some of our most experienced racers.

An Invitation from the Kachina Princess Tribe

Daddy Daughter Dance, February 10, 2012

Each year the Kachina Tribe hosts a Daddy Daughter Dance.
This years event will be February 10, 2012 at
The Riverside Golf Club, 2520 Des Plaines Avenue, Riverside.
Tickets will be on sale between 10 am and 6 pm, Tuesday to Saturday at Salon D'Amore; 52 East Burlington Road, Riverside; The cost is $35 per person.
Activities include:
Dinner, Dancing, corsages and a gift for the girls and boutonnieres for the dads and a professional photo to remember the evening.
Proceeds from the event will be used to support YMCA Indian Princess activities as well as local organizations.

This event is being held on February 4th ... It's our world renowned 1 day ski trip to Sunburst in Wisconsin. It may not be know around the world, but it is the talk of the Western Burbs.... ATTENTION ALL SECRET SANTA SHOPPERS

It is time to return all your filled bags. Drop in nights are this Tuesday and Thursday (11/29 & 12/1) from 7-9pm at Santa’s workshop. The workshop is located IN BACK of 110 Calendar court in downtown LaGrange. Simply pull into the parking lot next to the Magic Wok off of Harris Street and drive into the Alley behind the Senior Center. Volunteers will be there to take the bags (you don’t even need to leave your car).

On behalf of the LaGrange Community Nurses Association and all the kids you are helping this year, thank you for your generosity and Happy Holidays!
